A study in misunderstanding and understatement Captain Tremus of the 3rd mounted cavalry ==Incorrect Assumptions== The title of the Kingdom of the White Rose is a misnomer. That is the first mistake most people take from their visit to the edge of that fierce land. There is no king. There hasn't been a king for many centuries. The Kingdom is run by the [[Steward]]. He is also called the [[Steward|General]]. Every citizen of the KWR has a military rank. The time of service is compulsory. Rank is earned and kept throughout the individual's life. They are a very formal people with proper conduct and care. No one greets someone without determining the difference in rank. Strangers find this very difficult. ==Ranks== Knight, Dame Sworn man of arms shown to follow the code of Chivalry. Requires birth into landed gentry. Reeve Highest rank achievable for someone who is not born to the landed gentry. Squire Sworn to a knight or lord. Yeoman Peasant who holds land in his/her own right. This is the rank given to foreign adventurers Peasant Anyone not a noble. Collectively referred to as "the commons". Serf lowest level of the social and political hierarchy. Often considered poorer than poor. ==Origin== There have been many elements that have attempted to take this barren land. This land was actually founded by a small military company en route from the war. The units were stranded so the mixed complement of men and women started a colony. This was the start of this series of traditions. The latest aggressor was several centuries ago, The Southern Apostate Conclave. This group is a throwback to old times. They wanted something they called the “source” of magic. This conflict ranged for several centuries until the SAC was destroyed and their quest for the “Source” ended. This land is known for the overabundance of magical energy. Magical components and fruits abound. This phenomenon is unique to this region. This magical effect has a converse effect. The most elite soldiers in the kingdom eschew all healing and magical assistance. These soldiers, the Cruciates, are known for the fact they refuse all magic aid. They will only accept potions and the works of a medic.
